Ken Smaron Age: 23 Player ID: kenny05 on PokerStars and FullTilt Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Current Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Training Video Focus: 6 max SNGs During the summer of 2004, Ken started playing poker just as a fun hobby. During March of 2006, he decided to take a shot at playing poker professionally. The reason Ken thought that this would be a good idea is because he felt as though he had an edge and could beat the games if he put the time into it. It was a good choice and he’s been playing professionally ever since.
Ken attempted college life by attending Temple University in Pennsylvania, where he started in the fall of 2002. After about two years of schooling, he decided it wasn’t the right path, so he dropped out just short of obtaining his Associates Degree. To date, Ken’s largest online win was when he got 3 handed in the Second Chance on PokerStars in July of 2006 and made a deal which won him $38,000. While Ken doesn’t play in live tournaments very often, his largest win was when he took 27th place in the June 2008 World Series of Poker 6 max and won $12,000. The main achievement in Ken’s poker career is becoming one of the best players of 6 max SNGs online. For now, he is going to stick to online play. He does, however, plan on playing in larger buy-in live tournaments in the future as well as making a transition into playing cash games. Ken’s main goal is to win a World Series of Poker bracelet in 6 max. Presently, Ken spends 40 to 50 hours a week playing poker. He mainly plays 6 max SNGs with the largest buy-ins but also plays Heads Up SNGs and some cash tables. To avoid becoming worn out, he takes at least 2 months off a year to travel. Ken also spends time making videos on 6 max SNGs in an effort to help players become better at the game and learn a unique style of play which will give them an edge at the tables. Ken is also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
